Message: I am so happy that I found Dorothy Tester. In addition to having the best selection of indoor & outdoor fireplaces anywhere in the area, the great friendly service is what truly sets them apart. They took great care of me when I needed technical help with my fireplace, and even showed me around the warehouse to look at some of the great new fireplaces they have in stock. That level of friendly, professional service made me feel like part of the family, and now they have another loyal customer for life.

Message: A licensed HVAC contractor that I know referred me to Dorothy Tester Sales. I could tell right away that they have an awesome caring staff. Rob the first sales guy recommended that I didn't order the unit I wanted until I got clear measurements so he could help advise me. Joe and their in house installers even walked me through how to install the fireplace stove I purchased. I left there feeling confident and ready to do the install myself. I don't recommend installing a fireplace stove yourself unless you're comfortable cutting into walls and exterior siding. You also need to know how to work with gas and maybe a little electrical. Too much liability for most people in my opinion. Just have the installers at Dorothy Testers take care of it they really know what they're doing.. My experience at 2 other fireplace shops I visited before hearing about DT wasn't great. Those people came off as arrogant a-holes to be honest. They are also way more expensive!

Message: We keep getting notices in the mail about the need to check your gas fireplace. I called Dorothy Tester to schedule one.. Joe was extremely kind and helpful, advising me to instead get it inspected for free by calling NW Natural. These other places want $100 or more.. Integrity is a great quality.

Message: I had short-notice houseguests for the long weekend and needed to get our den nice & comfy for our visitors. When I tried to fire up my freestanding Napoleon gas stove, I encountered a slew of problems. From a dead igniter to a weak orange pilot light, to the front burners intermittently firing up filling the entire house with fumes. My remote control/transceiver was also on the fritz, I certainly needed a visit. I finally got a hold of a Mark Tester (owner?) and was crossing my fingers he could squeeze me in for an emergency repair/tune-up visit. What Mark provided instead was long-gone-old-school-telephone-customer-service. After describing the stove's symptoms/problems, he said my model is a simple workhorse that really doesn't require a whole lot of maintenance. He said if I'm nifty enough with some basic tools, I could easily resolve on my own.. and so I did. My igniters are now firing up, my pilot light is strong & blue, and the burners are consistently firing up! I'm so stoked at my newfound skills that I'll probably do my own maintenance for the main furnace upstairs. (lol) So I paid the shop a visit a day later to look into replacing the remote control and to personally thank Mark for his help. Unfortunately Mark wasn't available but was met by another gentleman who reminded me a tip that I had forgotten Mark told me to try the day before! I went straight home and did a quick rewire bypassing the main on/off switch and replacing it with the transceiver and voila! $150 saved.. in addition to whatever they would've charged for a site/tune-up visit for my previous issues. World class A+ customer service right here. I'm just blown away.

Message: A true, family-owned, small business. Not easy to find but extremely helpful. They spent 15 minutes on the phone with me explaining how to replace a part on my gas fireplace, even though their technician could have done the same job for $150 (minimum). Not sure how they stay in business taking that much time with individual customers.
